Sloppy Joe Tips

  • Double the Recipe! Freeze half the Sloppy Joes for a ready-to-go meal anytime life gets ahead of you.
  • Saute very finely green peppers and onions before adding ground beef to make them small and hidden from picky eaters.
  • Choose the brand of ketchup you prefer to control the sugar in the recipe.
  • Make a Tex-Mex version by replacing the tomato sauce with El Pato Brand Hot Tomato Sauce.

How to Make Sloppy Joes

Begin with a large skillet and brown the Felton Angus Beef ground beef. Meanwhile finely chop ½ an onion and green pepper, alongside 2 cloves of garlic. What my family can’t see is hidden, so I take the extra time to chop the onions and peppers as fine as possible.

A word of caution, be extra careful with the garlic. There is no quicker way to ruining a delicious recipe than burnt garlic. I like to add it with remaining ingredients and let it simmer away.

Stir all the remaining ingredients into the pan. Bring to a simmer then reduce the heat and let the flavors go to work.

Give it a taste test and adjust to your families’ preference.

Start your timer. Homemade Sloppy Joes are ready in 30.
